About Me

The guy behind the Warrendale (Detroit) Blog, Frank Nemecek
My name is Frank Nemecek. I was born and raised in the Warrendale neighborhood. I've lived elsewhere as an adult, but I keep coming back because it feels so much like home.

In December of 2005, though, I noticed a problem. I knew that there were a lot of interesting things happening in and around Warrendale yet no one in the mainstream media was paying attention to them. This was when I decided to take the plunge and start this blog.

In the years since, I was nominated for a NATPE Digital Luminary Award, received the Spirit of Detroit Award, and have been featured on local and national news media several times. This includes several appearances on National Public Radio, SciTech Now (PBS), America Black Journal (PBS), as well as the local ABC, Fox, and NBC News affiliates. I've also been featured in the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, and MLive.com.

I also received a chance to write about the Warrendale neighborhood in other publications. This includes Detour Detroit and Model D.

Along the way, I also made a documentary about the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in downtown Detroit called Checking In: The Story of the Book-Cadillac Hotel (2005) and have published two novels, which are The Candidacy (2003) and The Roswell Chronicles (2018).

I love talking about Detroit and the Warrendale neighborhood. If you would like to talk with me about anything related to it, please feel free to reach out to me.

My work schedule is hectic so email is often the most convenient option for me. My email address (in a format that humans should be able to understand but spam robots cannot) is frank [dot] nemecek [at] gmail [dot] com.

The Warrendale Detroit Blog is on Facebook. The Nemecek Agency, publisher of this blog, are also on LinkedIn.
