Happy 100th birthday to the Michigan Central Station

Michigan Central Station, formerly the main train station in Detroit and one of the most famous abandoned buildings in the world, turns 100 years old today. The first train pulled out of the station at 5:20 p.m. on December 26, 1913.

Across the internet, and in at least some the newspapers, one will find much written about the Michigan Central Station on this historic anniversary. My friend Dan Austin has a column about it in this morning's edition of the Detroit Free Press here. I would simply like to add my own birthday wish for the Michigan Central Station. I hope that the new year brings a new owner for the station; one who will give it the love that this historic landmark richly deserves.
